Brief Description:  Run engine, baggage compartment

Put limit markings on the engine instruments.

Ran the engine a few times for a total of about 10 minutes. All 4 channels of the EGT/CHT are working. Oil pressure was about 60psi, then dropped to about 50psi when the relief popped open at about 1500 rpm. Above 2200 rpm the alternator was putting out 12.4 volts. The RPM indicator was jumping 10-20 rpm, but there was no noticeable drop between the primary and secondary ignition systems. The O2 sensor was jumping around a bit, but I could see a noticeable variation using the mixture control. Engine performance looking good so far. There was a bit of oil weeping around the oil sump plate, so I tightened those nuts a little. Also some oil indications around the left valve cover, so tightened those bolts a bit. I didn't run to full throttle so don't know how the full pitch setting on the prop fully loads the engine. The engine was very loud. I checked with a sound meter, but it max'd out at the meters 99.4db limit, so it was louder than that. Be sure to wear ear protection or headphones when running the engine.

Started fitting the Sonex purchased upholstery "baggage compartment" behind the seat. The fit at the rear is not very good. It appears it was cut to fit with the shoulder belts installed in the original forward location before the change moved those mountings aft. There is no Velcro on the compartment upholstery, so I decided to use snaps to install it. I used a small hole punch to make holes for the snaps. The upholstery is very tough stuff, should wear like iron. The compartment needs to be removable for maintenance and inspection in the tail cone area. The top of the seatback overlaps the forward compartment attachment flap. My wife Linda was kind enough to sew the upper seatback Velcro stip to the forward baggage compartment flap. I installed the snaps thru both the Velcro and baggage flap. When the compartment flap is snapped in place, the top of the seatback cushion attaches to the Velcro.
